Breaking the Silence: Our Hearing Healthcare Talk at Bishop's Stortford Golf Club
In May, we were delighted to host our Hearing Healthcare Talk at Bishop's Stortford Golf Club, welcoming more than 45 attendees from across the local community.

The event was designed to be much more than a presentation about hearing health. It was an opportunity for people to connect, network, ask questions, and most importantly, discuss hearing concerns in a safe, relaxed, and judgement-free environment.

Creating a Space for Open ConversationsOne of the most rewarding aspects of the evening was seeing people openly share their experiences with hearing loss, hearing aids, tinnitus, and communication challenges.

Events like this help normalise these conversations and remind people that they are not alone. Why Does the Stigma Around Hearing Aids Still Exist? Despite incredible advancements in hearing technology, there remains a stigma surrounding hearing aids. Many people still associate hearing aids with ageing or see them as a sign of weakness. Others worry about how they will look or what others may think if they start wearing them.
The reality couldn't be further from the truth. Modern hearing aids are discreet, sophisticated, and packed with technology. Many connect directly to smartphones, televisions, and other devices, helping people stay connected to the world around them. More importantly, they improve communication, relationships, confidence, and overall wellbeing.
We often ask patients to consider this question:" If you needed glasses to see clearly, would you avoid wearing them?" Most people wouldn't. Yet many continue to delay seeking help for their hearing. How Can We Change the Perception? Changing the stigma starts with education and conversation. The more we talk openly about hearing health, the more we encourage people to seek help early.
Family members, friends, healthcare professionals, and businesses all have a role to play in making hearing health part of everyday wellbeing discussions. By sharing experiences and success stories, we can help people understand that hearing aids are not something to be embarrassed about—they are tools that allow people to live life to the fullest. At Your Hearing Clinic, we believe hearing better means living better, and nobody should feel hesitant about accessing the support they need.
Networking, Laughter and Human Bingo Of course, the evening wasn't all serious discussion.

To encourage networking and help attendees get to know one another, we organised a game of Human Bingo. The room quickly filled with conversation, laughter, and new connections as guests searched for people who matched the different squares on their bingo cards. Congratulations to one of our wonderful clients, who won our prize draw and received a fantastic three-course meal for two at Lower Street Brasserie in Stansted Mountfitchet. The game proved to be a brilliant icebreaker and perfectly reflected the spirit of the evening—bringing people together and creating meaningful conversations.
Thank YouWe would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to such a successful event. The willingness of attendees to share their experiences, ask questions, and support one another made the evening truly special. We are passionate about continuing these conversations within our community and helping more people understand the importance of hearing health.
If you missed the event and would like to learn more about your hearing, or simply have questions you'd like answered, we'd be delighted to help.Because hearing well isn't just about your ears—it's about staying connected to the people and moments that matter most.
